Tee Time Options
  • Straight Tee Times - Sometimes called Consecutive Tee Times, these are reservations that are held for any number of golfers. Under this method, each golfer or group is assigned a tee time. MetroWest Golf Club start tee times as early as 7:00 AM when daylight permits, and send off groups in eight-minute intervals. MetroWest Golf Club also reserves the right to fill your foursome if there are less than four in your group.
  • Shotgun Format - A shotgun start is frequently used by larger groups (32 or more players). In a shotgun start, each group is assigned to a different starting hole on the course to allow for all groups to begin play at the same time. Thus, a foursome might begin play on hole twelve and complete a total of 18 holes, finishing on hole eleven. The advantage of a shotgun start is that all foursomes begin and complete play at approximately the same time. MetroWest Golf Club requires a minimum of 32 golfers in order to do a shotgun format. Recommended starting times are 8:00 am and 1:00 pm, depending on the time of year.
  • Double Tee Tee Times - Often called ""Split Tee,"" straight or consecutive tee times on holes # 1 and # 10.

Tournament Style Events
  • Scramble - A scramble is a great team event. On every hole, each member of the team may hit a tee shot. The team decides which is the best shot. All members of the team may then hit from that location. This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed out. A team score is then recorded and the team moves to the next hole. There are many variations of Scrambles to fit any group's desires. The scramble is the most popular tournament format.
  • Stroke Play - Each golfer plays his or her own ball throughout the round and keeps score accordingly. If desired, these scores can be adjusted by using handicaps.
  • Best Ball - The best-ball format combines elements of stroke play with team competition. A typical best-ball tournament involves four-person teams in which each participant plays his or her own ball, and the best score is recorded for the team. This can be done in a multiple best-ball format by recording the two or three best scores. If desired, these scores can be adjusted by using handicaps.
